If any of you have seen Barry's Book collection, you'd think he has shares in New Riders / Peach Press etc, at anyrate I've read most of his books along with a combination of my own and at MXDU I was asked for a top pick of books and here they are:
CFMX - ===================== For People wanting an introduction to the powers of CFMX and CFC's, - Ben Fortas - ColdfusionMX / Application Development (Beginners) For People wanting more of punch out of CFCs and CFMX - Ben Fortas - ColdfusionMX / Application Development (Advanced) - Hal helm's - Discovering CFC's (Good book, but I have a hunch its more suited towards Java Devs getting into CFC's and how they cross over.. ie java code to cfmx.. still good book). - Inside CFMX - Its kind of the "extended" version of the CFMX manual, but well worth the buy - Barrys Book - Yes, he is the man who decides if i get paid each week, but.. its a perfect book for those who are looking to get into CFMX or even the timid few who have just started CF 5.0 and are looking to go into CFMX. FlashMX - Related ===================== - Branden / Sams OOP Programming in Actionscript - I just finished reading this puppy this weekend and man do i have new found respect for Nigell Pegg's FUI Components and at large FlashMX... If you caught Brandens preso on FlashMX and you are impressed, wait till you see this book. Few real-life experiences etc which where funny (well humerous) - Flash Communication Server - Kevin Towes (I had to do a Book review on this book for New Riders and In truth its the only one i have seen on FlashCom. It is very much like the manuals you get with FlashCom, but Kevin goes a little further in explanations here and there... if you are a FlashMX / CFMX dev i'd settle for just the manual in truth.. if you are a FlashMX dev, by heart then pick this up as the server-side stuff may throw you... - Ben Forta - Reality Coldfusion: Flash MX Integration - Great book in many ways, especially those who have jumped on the Remoting bandwagon... catch is, the memos in this book begin to drive you up the wall and at times throws you off your whole learning curve. I must admit, I gave this book up halfway through out of sheer boredom. - Jessica Speigels - FlashMX application design & development - I'd pick this book up after I read Brandens, as it has allot of good project walkthroughs in FlashMX Component development. I've got a few other books coming, some won't be out for awhile and when i find some gems, i'll pass it onto the list from time to time... P.S Sorry about the Spullin, when i type fast i tend to just dribble words out... -- Freelance Application Developer / Designer -- ph: 07 3288 6702 mob: 04040 32812 -- url: http://www.spidaweb.com --- You are currently subscribed to cfaussie as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] MX Downunder AsiaPac DevCon - http://mxdu.com/
