Thnx Phil, seeing that I got the code working, I have not really gone in and tried the second approach yet, I was going to do this when the numbers in my database increased. I will place your e-mail in the same folder that I have for this issue and eventually get to it and sort it all out. I must admit however (hope I am typical) that once you get something working, you leave it alone!   I know that some of you will say that good enough is not good enough and better is best, and that you should always strive to have the most efficient code, given you can usually get something to work via different means, yet one may be far more forgiving. It would work if you changed the order by to DESC, but then the records would be displayed in reverse alphabetical order.
