Michael, we tend to create our own when needed - imho free clipart can be a bit tacky
there a thousands of sources for clipart recommend google search on specific topics, often clipart is easily modified using a vector drawing prog (adobe illustrator, corel draw etc) more often than not we would use clipart (vector drawings) in logos or corporate imaging -for its scalability, so we can use same image on business card, website or billboard. often clients are willing to pay more for something that is unique to them. one thing to observe from a design perspective - if your image doesnt represent exactly what it should - dont use it, a good way to check is get (a non tech person - wife, kids, parents, neighbour) to give you feedback on your layout. One of the hardest things to design is an effective icon. sometimes we all fall into the trap of thinking we can do everything, where we should be focused on the area of our greatest profitability - if you are graphically challenged it may be worth getting a budding designer (student) to do some contract work for you, they will work for peanuts - and it gives them items to add to their portfolio. if you would like some more info email me of list steve ----- Original Message ----- From: "Michael Kear" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "CFAussie Mailing List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Tuesday, March 18, 2003 7:46 PM Subject: [cfaussie] OT: Clipart recommendations? | What do you all do for clipart? (OR perhaps I should first ask 'do you | use clipart'?) | | I often have need for photographic content, to spruce up my sites. I'm | not talking about feature photos, but as background, part of montages | etc for 'atmosphere' on my sites. For example I did a site for a | company that finances commercial buildings, and wanted to find some pics | of commercial buildings I could incorporate into the site. It really didn't justify the effort, because it wasn't a | feature of the site, just adding subtle indication as to what type of | finance company this was. | | It's occurred to me that I really ought to be using clipart for this | kind of thing rather than roll my own all the time. | | What do you all think of using clipart? Do any of you real | artists/designers use clipart? (As anyone can tell looking at my sites, | I'm what we call "design challenged" and more a coder myself, so I | really need a lot of graphics help usually. | | And if you do use clipart, do you subscribe to an online service? How do you do it? | | | Cheers, | Michael Kear | Windsor, NSW, Australia | AFP Webworks. | | | --- | You are currently subscribed to cfaussie as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] | To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] | | MX Downunder AsiaPac DevCon - http://mxdu.com/ | --- You are currently subscribed to cfaussie as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] MX Downunder AsiaPac DevCon - http://mxdu.com/
