Getting even stranger. In the same block of code, I had entered
<A HREF=SameSurname.cfm?Sur=#Sur#> #(SameSur.RecordCount -1)# other customer(s) named #Sur# </A> I changed it to the more regular <CFSET NumOtherSurs = SameSur.RecordCount - 1> <A HREF=SameSurname.cfm?Sur=#Sur#> #NumOtherSurs# other customer(s) named #Sur# </A> This clears the error.
