does
it need to be a ping? there are one or two tcp/ip tags about that you
could use to test remote systems - especially if you're more interested in a
sepcific service (eg web server) than whether the server is up at
all.
for
example, i use a cfx_tcpip tag to monitor our web
applications:
check port 80 - see if the web server is
listening
check for response to http get to htm file - see if the web
site is working
check for response to http get to cfm file - see if
coldfusion is working
