A couple of points to note that I found when reading through Vaughan's post.......

The <CF_STRICT>....</CF_STRICT> should be wrapped around all the code that you want to have the variable checking done on.

The <CFSET color4 = colour1 & colour2> line is CORRECT - it is there to deliberately cause an error to be reported for the COLOR4 variable (which has not been declared using <CF_DECLARE>).

Another possibility with this same concept would be to split out the START and END code from the <CF_SCRIPT> tag and create two separate tags (one called <CF_STRICT_START> and <CF_STRICT_END>) and place these (respectively) in Application.cfm and OnRequestEnd.cfm.  Then you would only have to place <CF_DECLARE> tags in your actual page.

It will really depend on what you want to do.  You may want to control which pages you use this for - and hence the <CF_SCRIPT> will give that easier.

Just note, OnRequestEnd.cfm does not automatically cascade back to the root directory (you have to have the paired OnRequestEnd.cfm in the same directory as your Application.cfm comes from).

Also remember, CaSe is significant in *nix environments - so just get used to using the correct case for things and you will never have any problems if you have to migrate.
