Having had the discussion last night about "strict" variables (and Vaughan's subsequent solution - which will probably have a new version soon with more functionality) I have also been thinking about the <CFPROPERTY> tag in CFMX (and it's closely related non-component oriented <CFPARAM> tag - as well as general "lint" checking in Cold Fusion).

As I know a number of MM staff monitor this list I would like to propose the following suggestions for some future:

<CFPROPERTY> should have the ability to restrict (completely) what attributes/members can be stored in an instance of an object.
<CFPROPERTY> should be extended to add "class global" properties - and also enforce/restrict to those specified only (as above).
<CFPROPERTY> should be extended to have "scope" using (probably) the ACCESS attribute.
<CFPARAM> should be extended to allow "strict" variable declaration.

<CFSETTING> should have additional attributes to specify when the "strict" checking should be performed (by default it would be set to current CFMX operation - ie. non-strict checking).

And, while we are talking <CFCOMPONENTS>......

The ability to call a base class method from an ancestor class would REALLY be nice.

It could be implemented by using <CFPROPERTY> and adding an additional "type" (of possibly "method") which can define a "variable" that can call a method in the ancestor class (similar as you may do in _javascript_).

These are only ideas to maybe start some discussion but hopefully prompt some action for the next release of CFMX.
