SQL is a language, just like CFML, HTML, ASP, PHP and so on. From what I
can gather, the term "Sequal" has come about from people trying to say SQL
to fast.

SQL
SQual
SeQual

When you code for MSSQL, mySQL or even Oracle, you are coding SQL.

Thats my take

Subject: [cfaussie] OT:Sequel / SQL Server

Hey all,

Can someone tell me whether the name "Sequel Server" is a Microsoft
endorsed name for their product? Every piece of official literature
from MS I can see refers to it as SQL Server, and a search of the MS
site doesn't turn up much for 'sequel', but then again... a Google
search for "Sequel Server" will give you the MS SQL Server page as the
first hit.

I personally get annoyed when people call it Sequel Server... it would
like calling MS's scripting language Asspee (heh heh heh).

Anyway, back to the important things in life....
