Hi guys. this is so specialised a question, I'll be hopeful if someone can offer advice.
on top of me worring about the 120+ dsn's to create for all these students (still working on it), I've now got DMWX RDS to battle with. - in using DreamweaverMX as a remote dev tool (yuck I know but it's used), Remote Data Sources (RDS) is used by Dreamweaver for contacting the database remotely to get the bits it needs for database access (creates the queries *automagically* - server behavours, etc) this isn't a problem for hand coding - LAN access to the database allows MSAccess to be used as a RAD tool. but DreamweaverMX *IS* the RAD tool. This is mostly to be an alternative to Query Analyser for SQLServer (does the same stuff). What does this mean? most of the advanced functionality for DreamweaverMX needs this RDS login. Without it, teaching Dreamweaver with ColdFusion is severly knobbled. No database server behavours. But how to do it? As far as I can tell, giving someone an RDS login allows them to connect to every database available on that machine, bypassing the password used in creating the DSN. Not exactly secure. am I pushing sh*t uphill because I'm using Professional, not Enterprise? any ideas? cheers barry.b --- You are currently subscribed to cfaussie as: [EMAIL PROTECTED] To unsubscribe send a blank email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] MX Downunder AsiaPac DevCon - http://mxdu.com/
