// NSW CFUG - Minutes (June 2003)

Well I thought I might put together a quick note on how the CFUG went last night. Not the best turn out -- about 11 folks. But actually a very good discussion on CFMX Admin and a bunch of miscellaneous topics.

** CFMX Administration

Geoff Bowers (me) basically went through a CFMX Admin presentation on server settings -- we stopped on every slide to discuss issues and questions members had on each aspect of server administration. Overall it was interesting to hear the collective experiences of folk running CF hosting, dev environments and production servers -- including the opinions of server admins and developers alike.

The presentation can be reviewed at:
  http://blog.daemon.com.au/archives/000158.html

Other CFUGs have asked about the possibility of running a similar set-up; ie. run through the Breeze presentation and discuss the issues presented on each slide -- go for your life, that's what it's there for :)

Associated links that were discussed in conjunction with the presentation were:

** Other matters

--RedSky Beta2
This is a very open beta now for CFMX. CF developers out there with a little bit of time on their hands are encouraged to try this out. Feedback from members on the program has been overwhelmingly positive.

--Macromedia Breeze
Seeing as the presentation was done in Breeze -- we discussed the format at some length. Generally out of the price bracket of the average developer, it was noted that free access to Breeze facilities are available for MM Alliance Partners and MM User Group Managers!

User Group managers should feel free to contact me for more details with regard to who they need to talk to in the US to get this happening -- assuming you want to convert user group meeting PPT's to Flash that is.

There is a new Breeze category on the Daemonite blog:

--FarCry Opensource CMS
Following up from last month, the latest version of FarCry CMS has been released and is available for download at:
http://farcry.daemon.com.au/go/downloads

It incorporates Unicode support, and firendly URLs amongst a host of other changes. New how-to's and tutorials can be found at:

Well that's all for now. Until next month!

Best regards,
