Sameer, More often than not - mail can only be sent by someone with a valid account (email address) on the system, this is done to stop spammers.
There are two issues - the mail server that cf is using and the process itself - for authentication via the mail server the mail needs to be sent from someone with a valid account - depending on your mail server/cf setup - cf may or may not have this privelege. - Try sending the mail using a known user on the system & check the results. The other issue is that if you allow a your interface to send out messages from a "known user" and use the "reply-to" to identify the sender you are basically creating an open relay mail server, a prime target for spammers - this should be avoided at all costs. Hope this helps Steve -----Original Message----- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Sameer Kekade Sent: Tuesday, 24 June 2003 4:39 PM To: CFAussie Mailing List Subject: [cfaussie] CFMAIL problem Hey All, Just trying to send emails using CFMAIL and I'm getting 550 user authentication required error.
