Hi Darren,

I agree that is scary, but the difference would be that user's on my network have given permission for me to access the files and only for their own use. Rather than getting our staff to login to the intranet, we've set it up so that we can grab their network identity, ie. login name when they log onto the network.  This means that info relevant only to them is only seen by them as each user's login is unique.

So in essence if I was visiting the intranet home page, the list under "fave links" is my favourites list. A nicer way of doing it is perhaps for people to be able to add their own bookmarks to the intranet as a seperate issue to their browser faves. It's also something I know how to acheive quite easily!! :)))

Take a look at this list of managers i found, some of which allow you to set the links to be publicly available. http://www.lights.com/pickalink/bookmarks/

Cheers,

Kylie

I believe and hope that this is not possible.
Marketing companies would kill for the ability to get that level of details about your likes and interests.
You may think it would be nice to do this on your intranet, but there is no difference in the technology used to use your intranet and any other part of the entire internet. If its retrievable by your site, then its retrievable by every single site that you ever visit or have a popup ad from.

Scary!

Regards

Hello All,

Does anyone know of a web service, custom tag or script already in existance that allows you to list a user's web favorites from their system?
As most users on a network would have similar if not the same directory structure, I thought it might be a nice touch to an intranet for users to be able to access their personal bookmarks. Just not sure where to start.

Cheers & thanks,

Kylie
