why would one bother with BlueDragon over MM's JRun/CFMX server, especially after the Red-Sky release?
The free version runs code at about the level of CF 5. To step to MX(ish) level code, CFCs, etc., then the price is US$550 so it is still a lot cheaper than CF MX. Then you step up to versions that run on J2EE servers, etc. and they cost serious money but a tad cheaper than the MM equivalent.
It's worth checking the functionality list. There is a lot of base level CFMX functionality that is simply not in the BlueDragon product. For instance I don't believe that CFCs are supported at all. (nor webservices, xml processing etc -- though support for some of these is apparently planned "soon")
Charlie Arehart is now their chief evangelist (he was hired by these folks) and he has a blog that gives a very BlueDragon biased pitch (assuming you want to hear their side of things :)

For what its worth the only advantage I see that it offers (if any at all) is the ability to deploy compiled code -- the price argument given the cost of CFMX Standard is just not relevant.
