We are using Firebird 1.02 on Linux with the ODBC driver and Coldfusion 5.

It is in general a very stable environment. One problem we have, however (and this is probably a FireBird Linux ODBC problem), if the database is not there (ie. you've got the wrong path to the database in odbc.ini), it doesn't come back with an error or anything, but rather something so catastrophic happens that the CFExecutive decides the CFServer needs to be restarted, and immediately.

Other than that, we have no issues with it... (although taken that's pretty serious ;))

Has anyone used Firebird and if so, which version?

How stable is it when used with Coldfusion MX? Is anyone using it in a production environment?

Does it work well in a shared hosting environment?

For those who have never heard of Firebird, it's an open source database that is based on the source code released by Inprise Corp (now known as Borland Software Corp) under the InterBase Public License v.1.0 on 25 July, 2000.
