Hi Mark,
I've not done massive work with java and coldfusion but mosty of what
I've done has been using java for capabilities that cf didn't
immediately have, sometimes using objects for persistence, network
sockets work, regular expressions. I've done a few minor bits and
pieces with things like text manipulation, where it was simply faster
to have java do it. I don't know how much difference there is now in
6.1 etc as it's compiled to java code anyways, but things like being
able to access zip classes etc are very handy.
