Send it "live" into another sub-directory and test it all yourself on the live site. Then re-release it into it's production location once you know it actually works on that server. If the site can't work that way (ie. paths are hardcoded, etc. etc.) then just set up a few test pages to make sure things function properly. Also - if you have hardcoded paths and location - change them now - because you can just about bet that they wont be in the same place on the production server.
