errr... think it would depend on how your bandwith is billed. If the stuff that goes out of your mailserver is bigger then you're not going to save if you pay for uploads.
Most often we've used the URL method as it allows you to track messages opened (roughly). but I guess it depends on your purpose mostly. By the sounds of this project, it's not going to matter much, but I'd put down a bonus for the ContentID method: your images don't disappear no matter what you do to your webserver. - James -----Original Message----- From: Australia 1976 [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Friday, October 24, 2003 4:14 PM To: CFAussie Mailing List Subject: [cfaussie] Re: OT: embedded images in HTML email content id - longer sending time, can clog up outgoing mail - lotus notes dies - some mail servers think you are sending them viruses, even though you aren't + you don't cop the bandwidth url method + quick to send - higher bandwidth usage - lotus notes still dies + less incoming bandwidth on bounced emails ----- Original Message ----- From: "Miles Tillinger" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To: "CFAussie Mailing List" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Sent: Friday, October 24, 2003 1:51 PM Subject: [cfaussie] OT: embedded images in HTML email I've had to create a simple HTML email template for a client to use in Outlook 2000. Has anyone had experience with images embedded in the email (Content ID method) vs referencing a URL for the image? content id method + doesn't matter if the user is offline - do all HTML capable mail readers support it? url method + smaller email size, less fat for the inbox - images are broken if user is offline Opinions?
