Hi Gary,

You might want to look into Rhino, the Java implementation of the Mozilla JS
engine <http://mozilla.org/rhino/>, or if you're keen, check out
SpiderMonkey (the C implementation) <http://mozilla.org/js/spidermonkey/>.

I've used SpiderMonkey in an (ongoing) personal project, and it's rather
easy to implement, I'd imagine Rhino would be the same.
