this is some sage advise given to our students (that listen, that is...):

"Currently the minimum standard 800 x 600 - which is reduced to 760 x 480 -
but I think this is gradually being pushed up. I advise students to include
important aspects of the interface in the 760 x 480 dimensions like the
menu, logo and anything else the the client deems as being important."
