I've got a site that desperately wants to use an iframe for a very large intranet app (no fixed user standards though). It won't be a public internet site. I'm totally on the side of 'frames are bad', but what actually are the downsides of using an iframe? How cross-browser happy are they? IE, Netscape and Mozilla all seem to cope with them. I don't care about people linking into internal pages, because I will be checking to see if its in the iframe or not, and putting it in the iframe if it isn't. I don't care about printing, as outside the iframe will be only navigation and other 'fluff'. I've not seen anything yet that convinces me that I can do anything similar with divs and css. So, does anyone have any arguments for or against using iframes in this situation?
