I recently had a client who just HAD to have the left navigation visible at all times.
They thought the only way to do it would be frames, but I managed to steer them clear
of frames by implementing one of those annoying little javascripts that makes the
navigation float up and down with the page if it scrolls... This helped us to avoid a
myriad of backend issues that frames would have caused :) Thankfully the client had a
5+ browser support ethos which made things a bit easier...

FRAMES DENIED

I was about to post......

...but agree with Mark.

You know what your environment is, you know how it will be used, therefore
IFRAMEs should be not an issue.

BUT - for all the newbies out there - Make sure you really really really
(and did I say REALLY) know what you are doing before you decide to use
any type of frames. Get plenty of advice, ask people on lists like this
one, etc. etc. Then you can know if you are doing the right thing before
everyone comes back and screams at you.

The current ABN AMRO Morgans site was done using FRAMESET (it's changing
soon, trust me) and it has caused no end of problems - especially with
security and sessions across frames.

DONT just use frames because it seems like an easy way out or because
someone said "make the menu stay on the screen". These are BAD reasons to
use frames.

Darren's reasons are good ones.
