If you can invoke the ws without error then the code is fine in isolation.

When you hit the method "ValidateEmailAddress" you're affecting the service by passing in a variable, if an error is generated at that time then that function within the ws is either not handling the passed in variable properly or some other "at run time" fault is occuring. I get this when hitting ws from FlashMX2004 from time to time.  Basically I can see the ws and list it's methods but I get a failure when I try to call the method.  As this is behind the scenes I get no debug.

I check the exception.log in the CFMX logs dir to see what happened (since all server-side errors are logged).
If the server offering this web service (http://soap.einsteinware.com/email/emailservices.asmx?WSDL) has logging and you can get access to it then check that, it should show what went wrong when processing your request, specifically the call to ws.ValidateEmailAddress.

Bruce

The webservice invokes just fine.  Its just when I call methods against it it dies.

Hi Steve,

This issue could be related to the differnt version of soap issue (6.0 specific, fixed in 6.1).
Is cfmx sending the packet the other side expects. You may want to use a packet sniffer to inspect what is being sent.  Also have you tested the webservice from within the cf admin area where you can add webservice to invoke later?

Cheers

seems pretty simple, but wont work

<cfscript>
ws = CreateObject("webservice","http://soap.einsteinware.com/email/emailservices.asmx?WSDL");
result = ws.ValidateEmailAddress("[EMAIL PROTECTED]");
writeoutput(result);
</cfscript>
has anyone had problems are knows of any issues with invoking webservices uner CFMX6.0?
