Wouldn't that get the primary IP address of the machine, and not necessarily the IP address that is serving the request?

Also consider an environment in which the IP is being translated.... (and you want the external address)

How's this for an alternative solution:

<cfset hostname = rereplace(cgi.http_host,":.*$","")>
<cfoutput>#inet.getByName(hostname).getHostAddress()#</cfoutput>
