I have a issue, I need to install ActivePDF somewhere, but I do not want to install it on the production server itself.
Which by the way it is a pretty good spected server.
However
1. The program has never been stress tested
2. The program uses the IE engine to convert HTML pages, which I don't trust 100%
3. The program could potentially be used by more applications thus creating some heavy traffic and potentially pull down the server
4. Any network person knows not to mix other applications with a webserver
5. Probably more issues if I really gave it some thought
I have found a victim where I could potentially place the application on, I was hoping I would not need to install a webserver on it or ColdFusion, only the application itself, and any other applications that might need to run on a seperate box than the webserver. However if I do not install a webserver and ColdFusion on it, the only way I can create PDFs is by calling the object directly from the OTHER webserver and transfer the pdfs through the file system.
What I am looking for is some input from you guys, like;
- confirming what I said above
- totally proving me wrong
- issues
TIA
