Hi all

the guy wants more than just a product-based site with cart. He needs to make sure that people purchasing electronic components have the correct and compatable accessories.

sounds like an upselling system to me, similar to Amazons "people who bought this also bought that" type of thing. Probably a rules table that stores the relationships to the products in the products table.

I have to make it run both ways, though. "This device has to use that software" or "That software only works with this device". Everything he sells is both a product and an accessory at the same time so I can't categorise them that way. And I'm tossing up between making it inclusional (look for things ordered that match) or both inclusional and exclusional (look for things that shouldn't go together and suggest the alternatives).

anyone have any opinions on something like this?

thanx
