Hmm, doesn't sound like a huge amount of code...
Our only MX server is a shared server (at webcentral), our development servers are still CF5 (as the vast majority of our clients are still on CF5)
You could always download and install the CFMX 6.1 developer edition locally for testing... CFMX 6.1 can also be installed on a server that already has CF5 installed (but it's easier to use the built-in web server for the 6.1 install than try to make both systems co-exist under a single IIS).
(James and I are already working on this issue offlist - we'll keep you posted - I just wanted to respond to this point).
