Err... just curious but until you know what the new version is how do you you know you
want to buy it?

Brian, for the purposes of your budget, I'd just put it in. I'd assume
there's going to be another release and its cost will be around the same
cost as the last two versions were.

We know that Macromedia is working on a new version. (They always are -
Microsoft is, everyone in the software business is) and the life cycle of
most CF versions has been about a year in the past. There's no reason I
know of to assume that's changed.

I don't have any information from Macromedia, and I'm not in any beta
programs, so I'm not talking from any inside knowledge here. (SO don't
assume from this that I know the answer and I'm breaking the NDA). I think
you're pretty safe if you do allow for a new version. Look at the
possibilities:

[a] you're right and there's a new version released during the year: Great.
You have the budget for it and can upgrade right away.
[b] you're wrong and there's no new release during the year: No problem,
you don't lose anything and you have a little bit of spare budget you can
use to soak up the excess somewhere else, or alternatively be a hero
because you came in under budget for the year.
[c] there is a new release, but it's priced higher than you budgeted for:
You have budget for most of it, you only have to plead and beg for the
additional, rather than for a whole amount.

Which ever way, I think you're better off if you get it in the budget.

Thanks Guys. I can understanding not want to release dates but for people
who are trying to do next years budget its means that they can not allow for
it and thus will not purchase it in the 04/05 financial year.
