I have some CF applications which I have inherited from another developer. One is an Intranet news-type site where internal job postings, meeting dates and minutes and other staff information is posted. The backend is MS Access and uses CFMX under Windows.
The problem is: every Wednesday morning at 1.15am, 2 of the tables lose all of the records entered for 2004 - meetings and events. It was also happening last year, but I haven't been able to tell if it is the same number of records each week, or based on some kind of date (eg last 3 months).
The service has recently been moved to a new server (and upgraded from CF4.5 to MX) and the problem continues, so I know its not a backup issue.
Its possible from within the web pages for staff to delete records from these 2 tables, so I changed this function from being a real delete to marking the records inactive. When I did this, the problem changed from the records being deleted to being marked inactive.
The only obvious solution is that someone with a sleep disorder
is getting up at the same time each week to make my life hell.
The less obvious is that there is some maintenance related function
which is doing this - Can you think of any CF related ways that the records are
being changed ?
