I have some clients who are still using mac os 9 and mac ie 5.17 (i know
very scary buggy browser), anyway, i am working on a intranet project with
a cfmx based cms and I am having heaps of trouble with uploading certain
file type from mac ie5, especially gigs, tiffs and quark files...

it's something to do with resource forks because the files are always
given the mime-type application/x-macbinary not image/tiff etc

it's not the 2 extra byte error with mac ie

there's some info here
http://web.archive.org/web/20030408135710/http://lookclose.com/learnmore/faqs/macieuploads.htm

which says delete the resource fork before you upload the files which is a
big hassle for normal users and they aren't in the habit of using pc style
extensions...arrghhhhhhh

any one encountered this? any tips?

cheers
