While I am not disputing that there is a bug here that probably needs to
be fixed, I disagree that this approach is a "hack".

We often run a task at a regular interval that uses database flags and
conditions to decide if it actually has to do anything or not.  And, even
if it does execute, it may do something different each time it runs
depending on the conditions.  This is no different to the suggestion of
having an application variable that controls if the code in the task is
executed or not.

I'm not having a go at anyone on this list (or any other list) but I am
often confused recently when the term "hack" is used - because, very
often, it doesn't qualify as a hack from my perspective but is a valid
programming practice.

What do other people consider that the current "hacks" in Cold Fusion are
?

Or do you do regular things that you feel are valid programming practices
but you have started to wonder if they are "hacks" ?
