> Another problem. What if I want to evaluate the string?
I wrote a parser and run engine to do this type of thing.
It used regular expressions to find everything that was to be replaced
(remembering where it was in the string) and then just was able to do a
single loop.
What I build was a mechanism to allow "tags" (fully nested but using []
instead of <>) to map directly back into CFMX modules. Once you do that
you can then execute whatever you like. And it is effcient because it
basically breaks the string into a XML-dom-like set of structures.
I have not documented it yet though. Was planning to put it on the MM
exchange at some time.
So, having said that, regular expressions is what you want. And what you
want is much simpler - except when you want to do the field1 + field2. So
what you might do there is use [] for a variable and {} for an expression.
OR
do something like [=varname]|[expression].
OR
if it is always variables - just "evaluate" the stuff in the [] each time
(even if it is just a lone variable).
