I think this is what Kym was also hinting at.

I have been thinking about this. I'll have to fight the fact the
check/uncheck links (outer CF loop) are rendered before the checkboxes
(inner CF loop) and are therefore not known to the buttons to send to
the JS function.

sounds like some messy work with cfsavecontent...

Are the names always the same.  If so then you should know that
Perm_b_40,
Perm_b_39, Perm_b_38 are in the same group.  You should then be able to
write JavaScript to check these 3 boxes.
