what would the approx street value of FarCry (or similar) be if you were to develop it from scratch for a client?
Well there are thousands of man-hours behind FarCry. No reason to develop any of it from scratch -- FarCry is free as in beer. You can use it for anything -- commercial or otherwise.
How does Daemon make any money from it?? Well you have to dress it up in a look and feel, people want training and support, customers want modifications and customisations. We make money from the services we offer -- the software itself costs nothing.
At that price what have you got to lose?
