Could be another of AuDA's little brainwaves. Apparently those luddites haven't discovered email yet.
Did anyone else manage any .org.au or .net.au domains? Did everyone know that AuDA simply expired all .org.au and .net.au domains registered before 1.7.2002 the other day. They put on their web site (that few people would ever have reason to go to) in a very remote area that this was going to happen, and that we all had to transfer the domains to another registrar. So at about 4pm on Friday, too late to do much about it, they just ceased to function. Not one email from any registrar or AuDA to any of my org.au domains. Not one. So they expired and AuDA had no people manning their phones. In my case, every one of the org.au domains I manage had my correct email address on them, and as secondary emails, two other valid and working email addresses. Not a single email from AuDA or any other registrar about them either. That would be the most idiotically mishandled changes in the .au domain space ever. Was anyone else victim of this stupidity? It is all in order to make us pay for domains that we previously had for free. I don't have a problem with that, but I think they should have made more of an effort to let us know than put a page on an obscure section of the web site none of us would ever have cause to go to. Don't you think?
