Sorry about that.
My diagram wasn't meant to be to scale. I was trying to emphasise that I
thought there was a big gap between VSS and CVS's level of development.
I wasn't trying to make VSS seem so close to nothing at all.
However, I would point out that I think the 'locking' that Homesite does by
default (ie, the popup box that tells you when the file you are looking at
has been modified), is preferable to the VSS style locking (in certain
circumstances involving small teams).

Although every piece of documentation recommends against using it, CVS does
have a way to exclusively lock files.

I'm doing the same here too.
We have a system that works much like VSS, and I'm putting in a CVS system
because the exclusive locking model is causing way too many problems.
