Macromedia's pricing strategy for Flex seems to be a 2-edged sword. On one hand, the reason why Macromedia has priced Flex the way it is, as I have been lead to believe, is to ensure the quality of the resultant systems developed in Flex. Apparently, so I've been told, Marcomedia used to have another ground breaking, reasonably priced product that failed due poor design and coding by inappropriately trained deveopers (ie not formally trained software engineers). This time round, by putting a higher price tag, Macromedia are hoping that it will be treated more seriously enough to put experience software engineers. And apparently there are organisations out there who are.
On the other hand,as I have be lead to believe, there are some who feel it's expensive enough to be taken seriously. Go figure!
