Having said all that...... I have voiced my opinion many times that the pricing of FLEX may well be the death of it (just as the pricing of Spectra was the death of that product).
I suspect pricing had little if anything to do with the demise of Spectra. It actually sold very well in its class of product because it was by far one of the CHEAPEST on the market. Some said too cheap to be taken seriously...
The price of Flex is cheap for the right project. It is as simple as that. The real question should be, is there enough of these sorts of projects to make a business from selling Flex. I think time will tell.
Anyone trying to embark upon a large RIA project with a team of people would be insane not to consider Flex. The sheer difficulty in building larger scale Flash apps with multiple developers makes these projects a nightmare. Flex attempts to solve these problems.
If your RIA app is a few screens being built by one guy on Flash IDE then you are not in this class of development -- Flex in this scenario will be too expensive.
