Hello Claude,

One would assume that you would encrypt (aka encode) them using the
coldfusion encryption utility in the cfserver directory called 'bin'. If you
have coldfusion studio you can do this automatically when you upload the
project using the upload utility. There is a utility by novabean.com that
encrypts all versions of coldfusion code.

!!! There are a lot of decrypters out there too, don't rely on this to protect your database logins (IMHO etc yada yada cheers Chris) !!!

That said, Claude why don't you create multiple logins to your database, one for each database/application - If you really can't put your login details into the database definition, and you have to give your client ftp access to the server (better make sure they can only access their site via ftp and not others) this is the best way to secure your database.

Really need a bit more background info to help more. Why cant you put the login details in the datasource definition?

Cheers,
Robin
