Actually I am in the process of writing one but it isn't ready by a long
shot.

FuseTalk Inc had a nice one (if they still sell it) called FuseMail.

My suggestion is install PHP and go with Horde IMP. It's extensive,
open-source, well-used and well-tested -- you aint gonna do much better for
something that's free.
