I'm not trying to start a flame war here, however Robin's sentiments seem as heartfelt as a statement supporting the union movement might be from Mark Latham. At the end of the day, what works best will be used, what is poorly implemented may well fall by the wayside.

In fact I'm still waiting to use the parameters that my tag libraries boast about! Bar-humbug! Well, they're still looking for people to contribute to the CFUG site if you're offering. It's not going to be a very long list of CF clones at present. I also wouldn't hold my breath for a lot of other CF clones to come out, or at least any that were reasonably useful. The initial development of CFMX was one of the biggest development projects in Allaire/Macromedia history, and a lot of very clever people were on the team. Sure you can knock up a lot of the basic tags very quickly, but without the more complex tags you may as well be using jsp. BTW, in an earlier post you were talking about 9k for a ColdFusion server - assume you were talking about Enterprise (which is a bit more). If that's your baseline then there is a stripped down version of ColdFusion - i.e. Standard. Last week we sold one to a client for $1650 inc - I wouldn't call that steep for an application server. Forgive me but I just don't understand the rush to distance ourselves from Macromedia. ColdFusion is a great product and a lot of good people have worked hard to make it what it is. New Atlanta and others have every right to build clones, but they don't automatically win my loyalty.
