POI is a very good option, probably the best and quickest. These is also some discussion and tools about this on the openoffice.org forums. The other least preferred solution is the excel com object which will place certain requirements on the web server for installed software.

Is there a way to create an excel file on the server HDD.  What I have is a error report that I want to save in an excel file in the nice separate columns.  I can use the cffile to save a file with a .xls extension but it just puts it all into one cell.
