I got the same problem with WebCopier as I did with HTTrack - trying to click on any of the links that came from a parent CFC caused the error.
I'm thinking it's something in the code - or the HTTP request that's not working as it should, and is producing those results.
(Btw - HTTrack is a really nice app)
I think I'll go poke my nose into Spike's code.

The one I've had great success with is a commercial tool called: Web Copier (http://www.maximumsoft.com/products/wc_windows/overview.html)
The reason I liked it so, it converts everything (including the most horrendously parameterised queries) to HTML and then rewrites all the links to be relative to the static copy.
You can then take a single directory (and branches beneath) and redeploy anywhere you like -- to a CDROM for example.
The only issue is that it seems to use a GUID for the filenames. But then heh, if you just want a copy of the website and are not worried about the filenames all is well.
