Microsoft "acquired" Chilisoft - the company that originally made Active
Server Pages (ASP).
They also "acquired" Vermeer - the makers of Frontpage.
Getting the idea?
And as far as Macromedia propaganda goes CFML is a mature technology (10
years old as a language, 9 1/2 years old as a commercial product).
CFML now runs on J2EE, is cross platform, easy to learn, powerful, flexible,
and that is only upto version 6.1. 7.0 will change the world.
Peachpit carry many books on ColdFusion and any CF user group, my own
included, have an extensive library of books available to borrow - covering
a wide range of topics not directly related to ColdFusion.

Subject: [cfaussie] ColdFusion Popularity
Does anyone have any idea of of the real popularity of ColdFusion. According
to the Macromedia propoganda it is VERY popular.
http://www.macromedia.com/software/coldfusion/blackstone/world.html
But, when I try to find any books in the large bookstores like Borders at
the Macquarie Centre, here in Sydney or Angus and Robinson in the city they
are lucky to carry just a couple compared to the MANY asp or other server
standards.
I have also read some info about the declining popularity due to expense of
CF server compared to ASP.
Does anyone have any thoughts?
