I thought about doing something like that too, but decided that was
open to the danger that someone would try to upload a large number of
files.   I figured (for the applicatoin I had) that 5 at a time was
adequate and didnt run the risk of  getting page timeouuts.  If they
have 50 files to upload, let them go through the process 10 times, is
the conclusion I came to in our case.

IF the page times out, they're going to have to go back and do the
whole thing again from the beginning, except for the files that were
uploaded before it timed out.  oh, but how does the user know which
ones were uploaded?    I decided my life was too short to work all
that out and compromised on the 5 uploads at a time.

Of course in this case, I was developer, architect, project manager,
and general flunky on the job so I had the luxury of doing it however
I liked.
