That's what the wddx.js script that I mentioned does. Take a peak, the main 
function is called wddxSerializer_serializeValue(obj) and there are a bunch of 
other functions that cover most things you need.

It's one of those little-known bits of CF that hang about in the background 
that can be quite useful on special occasions :-)
