Hi All, I have a CFMX server that hangs 2 or 3 times a day with the following error:
coldfusion.sql.DatabaseConnectionException: Timed out trying to establish connection To correct it, we need to restart the coldfsuion mx odbc service (if it will let us), or otherwise reboot. We have 3 windows servers running. Server A (WIN 2000) is running live CF intranet applications. Server B (WIN 2003) is running SQL Server Server C (WIN 2003) is a pre-production box currently used for development and testing. Server A and Server C access different databases on Server B. Server A works fine. Server C is the one that crashes repeatedly. I can't identify any significant difference between the cf setup and applications on servers A and C. Server A has the CFMX data source set up as an odbc dsn pointing to server c, with Limit Connections not ticked, Restrict Connections to blank, and Maintain Connections checked. Server C was setup the same way, but we have subsequently tried a variety of combinations in order to resolve the issue. None have helped. We applied the latest updater to server C - some slow pages ran much faster, but the crashes still occur. Server C is under very minimal load, and we cannot identify any action that causes the crashes. Session variables are stored in cookies in order to minimise any db contention. Based on advice in one article, We have checked in \windows\system32\]drivers\etc\hosts, but these files are basically empty, and are the same on servers A and C. (127.0.0.1 localhost). If you do a google search on the error, it returns a heap of CF pages for sites that are experiencing / have experienced the same issue, but I can't find any relevant advice on how to resolve the issue. Any help appreciated.
