No-one's doubting it's possible to come up with hard to follow code using the short-circuited operators, but it's equally possible to mangle code with with nothing but a list, a couple of <cfset> tags and a loop of some description (random example). Obviously - as you're always so keen to remind us - you've got far more experience with such things than I do, but I think it's throwing the baby out with the bath water to say "don't use this construct because it's possible to create unmanagable code with it".
