There are multiple links to the US from Australia.  Many ISPs have not
only links to the fibre cables, but backup satellite links and links
through cables going in other directions than across the Pacific
Ocean.

If it ever happens that our internet connection to the USA is totally
broken, then whatever disaster caused it will be so big that internet
connection will be the least of your worries.

For all practical purposes, I think you can regard the internet
connection to the US as being sufficiently redundant as to be
bulletproof.
