I didn't want to reply... but...

you weren't told to do anything. it was an fyi that there are other
ways of doing something.

i wasn't saying 'go over the whole codebase and replace document.all'.
I was implying that whenever you're coding in a section that has
document.all, you could replace it there. you'd be testing that
module, right?

Sorry but I have never stated this. I'm actually in your camp on this
one - it's usually a business decision that the developer has no
control over. as a developer, you take what you're given.

or, you could just be stating facts without making any assumptions.
i.e. document.all IS microsoft code, and getElementById IS the better
way to do it.
a simple statement of fact - without assumptions - you can take it or leave it.

Now that's an assumption. not a very good one.

Can we just end this by saying that while it's good to offer
additional information on a problem, not everybody wants to know
about, and it won't apply to everybody..?

This is my last for this thread.
