Scott, The actual point is not whether I am having a whinge!!
The point is that we work in the real world, we work with the knowledge of what we know and can achieve, if I or anyone posts something that we seem to have forgotten because it is older than the current methods of today doesn't mean that I should have to receive pointless message back about best practices. That's all I wanted to point out, if you can accept that then good if not then I know that you will be the first to keep pointing out that a person can't make a post without being told you should be doing it this way, when they are more than aware of that. All I am asking is that people who do frequent the list, as was made earlier about upgrades, don't assume about best practice, that's it. Accept a healthy debate about life and move on, don't get defensive about what I have posted that has annoyed me for over 6 years about people who come and go, and there purpose is to keep pointing out the obvious without consideration to the problem at hand, which was pointed out with the upgrade postings. >From another person point of view, this is what was emailed to me: Andrew, I am glad you have spoken so candidly on this subject, as a developer of 3 years I have been in a situation where I too have to deal with older code. And after seeing the posts too date, on the subject of best practices, I am afraid this list is becoming useless to me as a developer. I feel that I am wasting my time, because the developers that do frequent this list are only interested in the best and greatest, that take great pride in saying best practice or you should upgrade to solve your problem. And most times the poster ends up looking for other sources of help, which is going against why this list actually exists.
